General Electric Company (GE) announced on Tuesday that its GE Healthcare segment has agreed to acquire CHCA Computer Systems Inc.
CHCA Computer systems is a Montreal, Canada-based analytics solutions provider for operating room management. This purchase is in line with GE’s strategy to invest in strong businesses and improve the company’s footprint in software.
The operating room environment can be complicated, and this software improves efficiency for clinicians. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2014. The financials of this deal were not disclosed.
General Electric shares were mostly flat during pre-market trading Wednesday. The stock is down 7.71% YTD.
